Make your website mobile search friendly - Essential steps to follow

The most common rule for designing mobile includes making several mobile style sheets and resizing the images to make them search friendly. This makes your website user friendly thus making it easily accessible for the users. How search engine optimization can help? For mobile search is a quiet difficult task and in case your website is not mobile friendly, your hard work will be useless. Below are given some of the essential steps how you can make your website mobile friendly and boost its chances of getting better rank for mobile searches.
  • Make the pages short – Usually it is seen that the screen of mobile phone is short and so reading any long page is almost not possible. This is the main reason why you need to keep the pages short. So, even if you need to scroll down, it won’t be more than 5, 10 scroll downs to read a single page. Thus, in order to gain good keyword density for the targeted keywords, you need to list them in the text portion within a single screen. You should never over-stuff any of the pages as this may have a bad effect on the screen of the mobile phone.

  • Optimize for short keywords – These days you will find many mobile phones have QWERTY keyboards but these keywords also give you pain when you type long text messages. This is the reason why most of the mobile phone users do not like to type long text messages. The long keywords of 5 or more words may increase traffic to a particular website but in case of a mobile website, most of the users restrict their search to 2 words at the most.

  • Make proper local search – The mobile phone users usually look for local search and as such, local search results have become very much important. Thus, your mobile phone should have proper local searches and for this, you need to be sure that your mobile version is optimized for proper local search.

  • Provide the information in a visible place – It has been seen that majority of the mobile phone users do not like to scroll down. As such, in order to make the essential information visible to all, you should put it on top because this is the most visible place on your website. When any user visits your mobile website and do not get the needed information they are actually looking for, they will not scroll down to search for the information and, in turn, move away from your website.

The mobile sites are yet in the early stages and since the number of mobile phone users is increasing day by day, you will find more and more sites want to launch their mobile versions soon. Thus, if you want to keep your site updated, make it a point to optimize your site for mobile search.
